Medicare is available to people over the age of 65, under the age of 65 with specific disabilities, or anyone with  permanent kidney disease requiring kidney transplant or dialysis. Medicare can help people in four ways:

  1. Hospital care and covering hospital stays
  2. Doctors, medical tests, and procedures (this requires a monthly fee)
  3. Medicare Advantage -- where your health insurance is provided by private companies instead of the government but the government pays any associated premiums/fees.
  4. Prescription drug coverage (this also requires a monthly fee)
